Kerry 'Flips Off' Vietnam Vet

This is another story that everyone seems to have missed.

Democratic senator - and certain presidential nominee - John F. Kerry gave the middle finger to a Vietnam veteran at the Vietnam Memorial Wall on Memorial Day morning, NewsMax.com has learned.

Ted Sampley, a former Green Beret who served two full tours in Vietnam, spotted Kerry and his Secret Service detail at about 9:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Wall. Sampley walked up to Kerry, extended his hand and said, "Senator, I am Ted Sampley, the head of Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry, and I am here to escort you away from the Wall because you do not belong here."

At that point a Secret Service officer told Sampley to back away from Kerry. Sampley moved about 6 feet away and opened his jacket to reveal a HANOI JOHN T-shirt.

Kerry then began talking to a group of schoolchildren. Sampley then showed the T-shirt to the children and said, "Kerry does not belong at the Wall because he betrayed the brave soldiers who fought in Vietnam."

Just then Kerry - in front of the school children, other visitors and Secret Service agents - brazenly 'flashed the bird' at Sampley and then yelled out to everyone, "Sampley is a felon!"

Kerry was referring to an incident 12 years ago when Sampley confronted Sen. John McCain's chief aide, Mark Salter, in a Senate stairwell after McCain repeatedly offended POW families at a Senate POW hearing. Sampley, whose father-in-law at that time was MIA in Laos, followed Salter into the stairwell and, when they emerged, Salter had a bloody lip and a broken nose.

Sampley's group, Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry, has garnered huge national attention and has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post and on MSNBC's "Scarborough Country." Tens of thousands of Vietnam vets have registered their opposition to Kerry through Sampley's group.

Clearly Sampley has gotten under Kerry's skin once again.

It seems as thought being even tempered isn't in Kerry's charactor.

I was passing through a google search when I ran across your blog, and I felt I had to respond. (I'll log in for a username if I ever pass through this way again)

For the record, I'm an extremist political moderate. My bias is that America needs to stop attacking itself.(Both Democrats and Repulicans crucify themselves more often than is healthy, and between the two of them they've laid the blame for our problems on everyone who's gay, straight, white, black, red, blue, or simply confused...as though we all joined a gang war just by being born)

I've been talking to someone who was there with Sampley. They seem to think they've got the Senator on the ropes.

I'm not so sure.

Sampley's got a history of attacking anyone whom disagrees with him using the most vile innuendo possible while pretending it's all in good fun. His attacks on McCain are the stuff of legend.

For him to be pulling a stupid shock theatre stunt during a ceremony honoring the fallen while bringing the usual insults ...in front of children...kind of suggests he was looking for a reaction instead of a dialougue. That he got what he was looking for reflects badly on Kerry-but Kerry seems to have gathered himself together shortly after, or we'd have heard more of this story in the days since.

Compare that to the Bush administration's handling of it's critics. Bush may not have flipped a finger, but he's selectively authorized the declassification of any information that might cast them in an unfavorable light. His diplomacy failures reveal a man who believes himself above questioning... especially when the facts are on his side, and there dosen't need to be a confrontation.

We didn't need to hide our reasons for going into Iraq. The humanitarian argument alone was all we needed. Though it's doubtful France and Germany's leaders would have supported us, at least we'd have had the immediate approval of Mexico, Canada, and the Vatican, as well as the endangered moderate Islamic leaders who's people believe America seeks a holy war.(remember Clinton used the same reasons to intervene overseas numerous times, to little political outrage)

The Bush administration's inability to meet anyone half way is fa more dangerous over the long run than a flash of understandable human emotion. It's better that our leader should express himself publicly, than nurse a grudge when he thinks nobody's watching.

(of course, I'd rather we had a better choice to begin with-if only Reagan had been given more time with us...)

Anyways, that's my rant, thanks for your space-good luck with the blog.

I can tell that anything i say will fall upon deaf ears. Anyone who quotes the extreme right-wing Newsmax has no mind to actually think for themselves. They enjoy spouting off obscure, unsound information as the Word of God.

Anyone who's saved someone's life gets my vote. So what's Bush's tally?

I often pull story's for leftist pupblications as well as the right. I thought that NewMax Did a good job on explaining why and how Sampley was able to get Kerry to pull the trigger. Thew reason I reported this particular story is because it was underreported. I think it deserves more press. I do the same for stories that might be underreported about a Republican. I don't think that there can be any doubt that this Sampley is some kind of nut, and the original article made this pretty clear.

Kerry spent 4 months skating through Vietnam in areas cleared by real soliders. The one person he shot was already injured and his doing so violated the Geneva Convention. He is no more a hero than Michael Moore is a marathon runner. So far there isn't anything that seems real about Kerry, aside from the fact that he married his first wife for money, dumped her when he found his current wife, who has more money. So what do we have to insure us that he will not sell out the US for the right price?

news flash: the liberal on eschaton on spreading rumors about George W. Bush being a pedophile in the comments section! Apparently there is a new book out that alleges that our president is a pedophile.

Now that Kerry has been proven to be a liar and a coward the liberal media have found a new way to skewer Bush. Too bad their story is all lies!

I have started up a web page to stop this insane rumor before it gets started. I hope to start a petition up soon to ask the Kerry campaign to condemn these rumors. We must let the people know that George W. Bush is not a pedophile. Check my homepage for more information. Thank you.
