Bloggers at the Conventions

The other Galveston based blog reports and comments on the bloggers that will be reporting on Conventions.  The traditional media has been cautiously condensening about the blogger contingent in the press pool. The Los Angeles times editorializes with the headline 'Bloggers Are the sizzle Not the Steak' Smoke On the Water retorts with 'Close but No Cigar'
I've been a delegate to a Texas Republican State convention. And though Alex is correct that what we see on teevee isn't filled with tension, let me tell you, the behind-the-scenes meetings in various caucus rooms, etc., certainly is.
But make no mistake, this moment of blogging legitimization — and temporary press credentials — doesn't turn bloggers into journalists.

Well, duh! First, I don't think most bloggers would want to be journalists. I mean, when respectable careers like being a piano player in a whorehouse are still available, well......guess it's time for me to look into some piano lessons.

Ahh so well stated. Whether traditional journalist like it or not the political bloggers are here to stay, they are every bit as legitimate as any other media. In the meantime time I think I'm gonna get that ole piano tuned.
