The NYC Cops Must be Bored
NYC Police busted two balloonist for landing in Central Park. Apparently they were flying the balloon legally, although they didn't have permission to land it in the Park. Maybe the 'Go Kerry' signed emblazoned on the Balloon had something to do with the bust. Now, I don't claim that I know a whole lot about hot air ballons, but my understanding is that the operators don't have a lot of control about where they land them, and that Central Park is one of the few places where one might reasonably land. Maybe they didn'tTwo men were taken into custody on Friday after illegally landing a hot-air in Central Park, police said.
The balloon was emblazoned with a "Go Kerry" sign, an apparent reference to presidential hopeful Sen. John Kerry. It was unclear if it had any connection to the campaign.
The men brought down the balloon at about 2:30 p.m. in the park's North Meadow.
Police said the men had permission to fly the balloon, but not to land it the park. Charges were pending.
