Bamboo Floors Part 2
I started laying the bamboo floors,in fect I'm finishing up the first, and largest room. It looks real nice so far, sorta like a bowling alley. We bought the wood at ifloors.com. Equality was able to negotiate some because we were buying so much. We bought bamboo flooring for two houses (2500 sq. ft.) so we got a little bit of a break We purchased natural vertical grain. This wood is a little darker and grainier than most of the bamboo. This is a good thing it gave the wood more texture without the darkness of the carbonized product. However one has to be careful some of this stuff is considerably lighter and one needs to be careful how you blend it in. Otherwise The odd colored board sticks out pretty dramatically. The glue is my nemesis. It is sticky gooey crap that gets all over the place. Removing it off ones body is an upleasant task. The stuff has a strange affinity for arm hair. Strangely enough the stuff seems to come out pretty well in the laundry. Soap and water is also a help in removing it from ones person.
The job is going slower than I had hoped, but it isn't too bad. Andy and Equality have helped me and we are moving along pretty good. The pros finished ruok's floor in 2 days, in 2 day's I will have finished The family room and kitchen. So far it all looks good.
Ruok's contractor originally offered to do our floors for over $4,000 just before we started he offered to do it for about half that. We refused the offer. He had mentioned at another time that he thought he would end up wirh the job, "because thats how it is with computer guys".
