ChaoHu Children's Welfare Institute, ChaoHu City, Anhui, PRC

We knew nothing about the CHCWI when we were matched with our daughter. Luckily, several families that have traveled there in the past have been sharing information with newcomers like us on the world wide web. Ann Finneran set up a e-mail list for families that have adopted from this facility. She had this to say about CHCWI, "The ChaoHu orphanage is a small one with what we estimate to be about 80 children, but starting with a few adoptions from that orphanage in 1998, conditions appear to have improved sufficiently that the CCAA seems to be referring children from that orphanage with greater frequency. As of 2002 conditions in the orphanage are reported to be very good, (from what we have seen, to date no families have toured the interior. Photos of the interior have been provided by the orphanage, however) Many families relate in their posts of the apparent love bestowed by the caregivers there. It appears there are three orphanages in Chaohu City, but only one from which international adoptions are currently allowed." Below are some of the above mentioned photos provided by the CHCWI.
