Jan 30Makeup qualification or qualify on a 2nd horse
Due to all the rain we've received, the qual make-up tentatively scheduled for this Sunday at the Salinas Posse grounds has been moved to Los Robles Equestrian Facility at Lake San Antonio. Ron walked the arena yesterday, then checked it out again tonight after the rain we had last night & today. Even though it's wet, there is no standing water. We'll begin riding at 11:00am. The rangers said that the entrance to the riding area gets a little slick, so Ron may have the gate open that's right before the kiosk, the one that goes directly into the overnight camping area--so go in that way if it's open.

**(This is a qualification make-up, OR a qualification for a second/third horse, OR just a training for those of you already qualified.)

Wildflower festival - Lake San Antonio Ride Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday as needed and available. Here's the directions to south Sheri San Antonio, in case you are attending for the first time or if you can't quite remember how to get there :-)

Exit on Jolon/San Antonio /Hunter Ligget off hwy 101 south (the same exit for our annual qualifications, right before king city--so about 1 hour south of Salinas with a trailer). Turn RIGHT from the exit onto JOLON. You'll stay on Jolon for about 23 miles till you reach a 4-way intersection - there's a little store on your left. Anyway, turn RIGHT onto INTERLAKE. Approximately 13 miles down you'll come to a 3-way intersection, turn LEFT onto San Antonio Rd. (you may recognize our house on your left about 4 miles from that road). Anyway, once you're on San Antonio rd., you will end up at the kiosk in another 4 miles; they will be expecting us(should be anyway!) . Stay on this main road for approx. 1 1/2 miles more. Look out for a barricade Carri will set up the day before--She will put it on the right, but you'll turn left onto a dirt rd (very easy to MISS if you blink!) If there are cones, just set them aside so you can go through. Stay to the left, as this rd will split--if you bear right it will be ugly turning around with a trailer!

May 14-15 May 14 - Trail trials with San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Posse at Lake San Antonio North Shore. We will meet at 0830 hours at Los Robles Equestrian Center. San Luis Posse will be bringing obstacles, as well as us (Ron is bringing a car wash, cones and poles. This will be all we need). The Posse Captain, Bill Obermeyer, told me they will have about six riders and all are looking forward to the event. This will be a very low-key competition and we are planning to have a potluck type dinner afterwards.

May 15 - Los Robles Equestrian Trail Maintenance Day. Ron was asked, and volunteered Carri and himself and whomever else is willing to assist the Ranger Staff, in doing some trail maintenance and clean-up of the local trail system of the Los Robles facility. This will only be a half day project and Ron thought it was the least we could do in "giving back" to the County Park.

Summary - You may arrive at the lake on Friday May 13 in the evening and stay the weekend. The Trail Trials will start around 1000 hours on Saturday, but we need to get started setting up the course at 0830 hours or so. Sunday's maintenance will start around 0900 hours and probably go until 1300 hours.
