The Dusty Springfield Awareness Society

Welcome! Thank you for dropping by! I've redesigned the site using Dreamweaver! Someday, I'd love to be designing sites for friends and perhaps, as a vocation! The purpose of the site remains the same. That purpose is to bring more awareness of the talent Dusty Springfield! I first discovered her talent via my Mother. I remember her playing the song Wishin' And Hopin' on the stereo almost non-stop! Finally, after listening carefully, I asked my mother who is that? She replied, "That's Dusty Springfield. She's a British Artist. When Dusty's first albums were played in the United States many people just assumed she was black, due to the soulful quality of her voice. " I couldn't believe it! I said, Mom, she's not? My mom said "No. She's not; however, isn't she wonderful?" And that's how it all began, my interest and love for the music of Dusty Springfield.

I've designed this site as a humble tribute to her and in some way hope that you will discover her amazing talent Dusty had a unique talent not only with her heart stopping voice, but her ability to know exactly how to sing a song. Today, that's a rare quality. In this day and age of over singing and the desire to overwhelm the listener rather than truly move the listener, Dusty remains ahead of the pack. She knew how to use her voice to move and touch other people. Some of her ballads like the stunning You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, touch the heart and speak to the soul. She was known as the White Queen Of Soul, and she still is. Dusty is a legend.

Dusty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1999. She was enshrined alongside other legends such as Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen (Bruce Is a Dusty fan!) and Billy Joel. Dusty wouldn't sing a song unless it made her cry! She was a perfectionist. Sometimes, this created problems for her in the studio. She was labeled difficult, however, I can only say that Dusty's Recordings have and will continue to stand the test of time. Frequently her album, Dusty In Memphis, has been named to Rolling Stone's top 100 Must Have Albums Of All Time.

Recent  Note 6/27/07: You'll find many singers that credit Dusty for helping them to develop their own artistry some of the few are Amy Winehouse, Beth Orton, Joss Stone etc.
