Antennas

I have a great interest in antennas, particularly in portable/stealth types.

Recently, I decided to get parts for a AN/GRA-50 Antenna. This is a military version of a dipole with two reels. The reels are attached to either side of a center insulator. I had gotten two new reels via Ebay but could not find the center insulator. Certainly, any center insulator would have worked, but I wanted to make this setup the real mccoy. Anyhow, I found a gentleman who had won a bid for a number of these center insulators. I contacted him with the intent of purchasing one. Now get this, this fellow, who I never had met was gracious enough to send me not one but two. His name is Gordon with call KG4FRG. You don't see this unselfishness anymore. True altruism. Here is my way of saying Thanks.

My current antenna collections are:

I'm using a 80M dipole fed with cheap 300 ohm line from Radio Shack an ICOM AH-4Auto tuner.

A new addition is a Vertical Loop, looking like a rectangle, along the side of the house. Fed with the AH-4 tuner. Total wire is about 140ft. Two military mast of 22ft in height each separated about 50ft.
