A pet is a wonderful, loving addition to any family. However, every year many animals are given up by their families and left at shelters because their owners were not prepared for all of the demands a pet places on their time and financial resources. Did you know that:

| |
At a minimium, one will spend $50-$60 a month for maintenance (food, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention). This does not include grooming, training, and annual check-ups like teeth cleaning, etc.
Do to inadequate spay/neuter efforts, last year in the DFW area alone, 200,000 dogs and cats were euthanized. Many animals with collars, but no registration tags to find their owners.
Heartworm prevention costs ONLY $7 to $10 per month; however, treatment for animals with heartworms costs $350 to $500.
