Dance For Young Children  (ages 4 - 6)

We offer a wide range of classes for young children to ensure that your child’s first experience with movement is a positive one. All aim to cultivate basic body awareness, coordination, flexibility, strength, musicality, group awareness, discipline, and expressiveness.  and all aim to be fun!

Intro To Dance: Draws on every day movements to create greater body awareness and begins to present the kinds of movements basic to different styles of dance. Using storytelling and improvisational games, this class seeks to touch the creativity and expressiveness in every child.  It’s a wonderful class with which to introduce your 3-5 year old child to any form of dance.

Pre-Ballet: Is geared for ages 4-6, these classes introduce the basic movements of ballet in a way that is supportive, unintimidating, and fun. Each level of Pre-Ballet adds more basics.  A class with gentle yet deliberate structure, Pre-Ballet can help prepare a child for any beginning dance class.

Pre-Hip Hop:  Draws from a strong base in both in both African dance and Street Funk to introduce the 4-6 year old dancer to rhythms, body isolations, patterning, coordination exercises and strength building moves.  All with upbeat, age appropriate music.

Pre-Tumbling:  Uses props and gentle tumbling activities to build body awareness, spatial skills, a sensitivity to rhythms and tempos, and basic coordination skills for ages 4-6.

Pre-Earth RhythmsDraws from a strong base in African dance, introducing the 4-6 year old to rhythms, body isolations, patterns, and coordination games.  Excellent for the active child!

Pre-Tap:  Focuses on learning basic tap combinations, building foot coordination (heel vrs toe), a sense of rhythm, patterning skills, and over-all body awareness.
