Welcome! My name is Weldon Padgett and this site is dedicated to stamp collectors specializing in Sierra Leone stamps. (PLEASE SEE THE OTHER PAGES ACCESSED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS AND OTHER PAGES!). Currently the site is picture heavy, a little comparison information on types and colors, variations and forgeries, and some general philatelic background.
Scott numbers are shown first and the Stanley Gibbons numbers are second and in (xx). This may be confusing, but it was suggested that most collectors of Sierra Leone are outside of the US and probably most familiar with SG numbers. (Note: Last updated June 2007)
Weldon's Sierra Leone Stamps Site
I became interested in stamps from Sierra Leone when I went there in 1987 as a Peace Corps volunteer. My dad had made a little album of a few Sierra Leone stamps before I left, and I picked up a few sets while there. In 1999, I became serious about collecting only this country.
Virtually all of my collection has come from Internet auctions or through collectors I have met on the Internet. My dad and grandfather worked for decades on a family album of Danish stamps, and they'd be amazed how quickly one can build a collection, compared to the occasional luck of a good stamp show or a dealer in a shop.
