Shepherding Team Update 02/18/06

I added one more document to our tool kit. We discussed having the team debrief on a periodic basis what we learned through the shepherding contacts . Experience has shown that it's better to capture thoughts while fresh in one's mind rather than trusting our memories several months later.

Attached is a form you can use based on a method I've applied several times when facilitating workgroups: the Start-Stop-Continue feedback approach. It's very simple and easy to follow, yet makes you think comprehensively about the process you are using. The file is in Microsoft Word so you can save it to your PC and fill in the form as you gather ideas and feedback after each shepherding assignment. There are also separate sections for feedback about the Shepherding process and feedback about church programs.

A copy of this file can also be downloaded from the Shepherding Program web page (listed under the Shepherd's Tool Kit section),

I'm just offering this form if it will help you better organize what you learned during your Shepherding activities. The main point is that I'm advocating keeping track of your thoughts along the way so we don't miss anything and have better quality outcomes when we have our debriefing sessions.

A week or so before a debrief session I will send out a call to provide me your written feedback, if any, so I can compile that content for discussion at the meeting.

Jack - if we consider the Shepherding Program as launched this month, a quarterly feedback point would be May. You might consider adding this debriefing session to the agenda for the May Evangelism Committee meeting.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

Bob.
