VERNON REMEMBERED

Visiting in Europe, July 1945.  Vernon was with the 44th Infantry, Artillery Battery A and ran communication lines between the artillery batteries and the spotters who targeted enemy positions. He never talked very much about his experiences in World War II except to mention one occasion when he briefly saw his brother Lilburn.
