JESSE WOODCOCK RECORDS


Part of the deed of January 16, 1822:

This indenture made this 16th day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two between Mary Williams of the county of Wilson and state of Tennessee of the one part and Jesse Woodcock of the county of Davidson and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that this Mary Williams for and in consideration of a certain negro girl named Louisa willed in the will of Jordan Williams (deceased) willed to Maria Williams now Maria Woodcock the receipt hereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted and bargained sold and delivered by these present doth grant bargain sell and deliver unto this Jesse Woodcock his heirs and administrators or assignees a certain tract or parcel of land situated and lying and being in the county of Wilson in the waters of Cedar Creek containing one hundred and sixteen acres. . . NOTE:  There are very few records of Jesse and Elizabeth and it seems more than coincidental that Jesse is purchasing land from a Mary Williams, widow of Jordan Williams. Also, the Maria Williams mentioned could be Elizabeth Maria Williams.

NOTE:  I don't know what was being sold, but James Standifer Woodcock was Jesse's brother.
