Jesse Woodcock's exact birth date is unknown. Assuming he was 16 to 20
years old when he married, he would have been born between 1800 and
1804. He was the son of Thomas Woodcock
and Mary Standifer. Jesse married Elizabeth Williams June
8, 1820 in Lebanon, Tennessee (Wilson County). Jesse died in 1865 in
Franklin County, Missouri and is buried with two other people (three rocks
mark the site somewhere near the Woodcock cemetery in Leubbering, MO).
Jesse
and Elizabeth had seven children: |
Elizabeth M.Williams was born
between 1820 and 1830 in Maryland. She died between 1834 to 1837 (I
know her birth dates seem wrong). Elizabeth's parents are unknown,
however, there are some land records that
may indicate her parents were Jordan and Mary Williams. |

Miscellaneous
Notes
|
-
Abraham
Woodcock was surety
for Jesse's marriage to Elizabeth Williams.
SURETY
as relates to marriage bonds, someone who guarantees a groom will marry
the bride. This is done to keep a groom from promising or proposing
marriage, then backing out. The surety puts up a bond of an amount of
money, which he would lose if the groom does not marry.

William
Lewis married Mary Woodcock on December 23, 1840 in Franklin County,
Missouri

When
Jesse died, an inquest was held to investigate the cause of death.
Mathias was appointed guardian of the minor heirs December 4, 1865,
because Jesse's wife Rebecca had already died. Minor
heirs listed were James, Moses, Enoch and Nancy Ann.
It appears the baby had died as well.
March 1, 1866 the Jesse Woodcock estate was sold at public auction.

Malinda
Lastly married George Woodcock on March 12, 1845 in Franklin County,
