THOMAS TURNER WOODCOCK
AND RUTH WHITMIRE


Thomas Turner Woodcock was born March 6, 1824 in Wilson County Tennessee the son of Jesse Woodcock and Elizabeth Williams.

He married Ruth Whitmire December 18, 1845 and had two children:

  1. Isaac Evan Woodcock

  2. Mary Ann Woodcock was born Dec. 12, 1849.  She died April 11, 1915 at the age 66 in Joplin, Jasper County MO.  Mary Ann is buried at the Fairview Cemetery.   She was  married April 8, 1875 to Charles Webber Standifer, born Feb. 18, 1851, died April 20, 1922.  They had six children.   Mary Ann was raised by her mother’s sister, wife of Thomas L. Cofer after Ruth Woodcock (Whitmire) died of “Milk Fever” (disease from drinking contaminated milk, like undulant fever or brucellosis) shortly after her birth.

Thomas Turner died October 6, 1901 at the age 77 in Franklin County, Missouri.  He is buried at the Anaconda Cemetery in Franklin County, Missouri.

Thomas Turner Woodcock was married three more times before his death but had no know additional children.

Ruth Whitmire was born May 17, 1826 the daughter of Moses Whitmire and Elizabeth Evans and died June 3, 1850 at the age 24 in Franklin County, Missouri.  Ruth is buried at the Brush Creek Cemetery in Franklin County, Missouri..  

The Hearst Connection
Ruth Whitmire's 1st cousin once removed was Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson.  Phoebe married George F. Hearst June 15, 1862 in Steelville, Crawford County, Missouri.  Their son, William Randolph Hearst, was born April 29, 1863.
