"Thomas Woodcock, one of Franklin County's oldest citizens, died Oct. 6.
He was buried at the Morrellton cemebery (Anaconda Cemetery) in the
presence of a large gathering of mouring relatives and friends." Franklin

Smith County TN
In the name of God Amen - I Henry Woodcock of Smith County being of sound
and perfect memory thanks be given to Almighty God do make & ordain this
my last will & Testament in manner & form following I recommend my soul
to God who gave it hoping through the merits of my savior Jesus Christ to
receive pardon & forgiveness for all my sins my body I desire it to be
decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter I have
disposed of my estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this
world in the following manner & form Viz:
Item I give & bequeath to my beloved wife Eleanor Woodcock my plantation
where on I now live during her natural life & after her decease it is my
desire is that my land be divided between John Woodcock and Betsy
Woodcock & my daughter Polly Dillon. John Woodcock part to twenty one
acres to be laid off across the land & Polly Dillon to have twenty five
acres next to Johns & my daughter Betsey Woodcock have my orchard & the
Balance of my land.
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Betsey Woodcock one feather bed &
furniture one Black Walnut chest also one black Walnut cupboard also my
black mare.
Item all the rest of my personal estate I give to my beloved wife or as
much of it as may be thought sufficient for a support for my wife and
Daughter my Desire is that John Woodcock work my waggon to pay off my
Debts & if he can't make out to pay then my executors must sell the
waggon to pay the Debts.
Item I Do ordain constitute appoint my Trusty friends John Woodcock &
Thomas Woodcock my whole and sole executor of this my last will &
Testament In Witness whereof I the said Henry Woodcock have to this my
last Will & Testament set my hands & Seals this 29th day of July 1819
sealed signed & delivered by the said Henry Woodcock for his last Will &
testament & no other in presence of.
Item the rest of my children to have no more that what they have already
had.

On November 13, 1814 William and his brother Mark enlisted in Captain
Elijah Haynie's 3rd West Tennesse Militia Infantry in Smith County,
commanded by Col. James Raulston. The regiment was mustered in at Camp
Haynes and served in General William Carroll's division. Carroll's
Militia took part in the night battles of December 23, and 28, 1814.
It is not know whether William took part in the Battle of New Orleans.
William died of disease in New Orleans on February 13, 1815
