Legend of the Five Rings artists

One of the main reasons for this list is to get contact information to have artists sign your cards; it's the main reason I compiled it! Randy Gallegos has a excellent article on the "dos" and "don'ts" of card signing ettiquette. Check each web page, though; many artists' policies on signing cards are more strict than Randy's.

Rob Alexander: Credits include Akodo Godaigo, Shiba Tsukune, and all those great panoramas on the Gold Edition starter boxes.

Michael Apice: Credits include Ikudaiu (Experienced), Bayushi Urei, and Ichiro Kihongo.


Chris Appel: Credits include Grim Mempo, Heavy Armor, Chukandomo, Dotanuki, and Bo Staff.

Drew Baker: Don't forget to click here for newer pieces not listed on his front page, and here for L5R prints! Credits include Wise Investment, Shiba Yoma, and Yasuki Yukinaga, and the Diamond Edition House Guards.

Tom Baxa: Credits include Oni no Chi, Bayushi Areru, Agasha Kusabi, and Ashamana.

Jason Behnke: Many L5R credits, but will always be remembered for the unforgettable art for Yoritomo.

Beet: But he usually speels it beet. Credits include Doji Midoru, Bayushi Toru, To the Last Man (Gold), and Akodo Kuon.

Theodor Black: Credits include Take the Initiative and Hitomi Kobai.

David Bollt: He did some of the wilder illustrations for Imperial Edition and Shadowlands, like Kyoso no Oni, Isawa Tomo, and Touch of Fu Leng. Dragon players, take note: he's now a top notch tattoo artist!

Theresa Brandon: Credits include Shrine of the Dragon Champion (Gold Edition) and Kitsune Ryukan.

Heather Bruton: Original L5R artist and fellow Canadian. Tell her Zen sent ya! Credits include Ancestral Sword of the Unicorn, Isawa Osugi, Hida Rohiteki, and Treaty.

Dennis Calero: I don't recommend opening this page if you have a small screen size; it takes a lot of space! Credits include Zombie Troops, Hida Kuroda (Mark I, in The Spirit Wars) and Shinjo Maku.

Paul Carrick: Credits include A Pure Stroke, Flaming Ground, the original Spawning Ground, and Big Stink.


Matt Cavotta: Credits include Hida Rohiteki (above), Tiger Tattoo, and Broken Guard.

Ron Chironna: Credits include Doji Reju and Shaunasea.

Miguel Coimbra: Credits include the Training Grounds 2 box, Bayushi Muhito, and Hida Nichie.

Daydream Graphics: Home to Randy Gallegos. Randy's studio web-cam movies are darn cool, and he'd done a mess of card art for L5R, including Akodo Toturi, Poisoned Honor (hot hot HOT!), and Isawa Taeruko (Dark Journey Home version).

Thomas Denmark: He worked with John Wick on Orkworld, and he's got some L5R art in Heaven & Earth.

Adam Denton: Several forthcoming works for Enemy of My Enemy.

Tina Druce-Hoffman: Credits include Whistling Bulb Arrow and City of Lightning.

Cris Dornaus: This is Cris's newest site, in progess. She also has an older site here. Credits include Hitomi, Kabuki Theatre Troupe, the Jade Edition Clan Charters, and a bunch of L5R RPG illustrations.

Talon Dunning: Credits include Bitter, Honorable, Suzume Roshi, and the Price of Innocence. Link updated 8 October 2004.

Pamela Eklund: First L5R art in Dark Allies!

Larry Elmore: Credits include Genzo and Lost Valley.

Jason Engle: In addition to his homepage, he has another gallery here.

Mark Evans: Credits include Isawa Sayuri and the Gold Edition Oracle of Water.

Studio Foglio: Kaja Foglio's done only a couple of L5R pieces, sadly: Hitsu-Do and Shinsei's Fan. Phil Foglio has a couple of Legend of the Burning Sands cards to his credit. Not enough for such great artists!

Carl Frank: Former AEG staffer, he's still cranking out great L5R card art. Credits include Doji Hoturi (Experienced 2), Gift of the Water Dragon, Dirty Scum!, and Kaiu Utsu.

Dan Frazier: Credits include Cowardice, Mirumoto House Guard (Shadowlands version), and Stand Firm.

Ted Galaday: Credits include Extended Maneuvers, Hitomi Miromasa, and Keep the Peace.

Donato Giancola: Only one L5R credit I know of: Isawa Ijime (Heroes of Rokugan).

Thomas Gianni: Credits include Dai Tsuchi and Dakosho.

Dćrick W. Gröss: Part of Studio G, his credits include Master Sculptor, and the "bookend" pieces Shrine of the Moon and Shrine of the Sun.

Pia Guerra: Owner and proprietor of the Hellkitty Lounge. Oh yeah, and a terrific artist who worked on the L5R team in Gold Edition. Command Group and Golden Obi of the Sun Goddess are just two by her.

Paul (Prof.) Herbert: Hida Kuon (first two versions) and a heck of a lot of Ratlings all owe their existence to this man. His web page is still in its infancy.

Bryan Heyboer: This page showcases his black and white art. Credits include Asako Shuntaro, Shiba Arai, Hida Kosho, Moshi Mogai, and Isawa Maasaki.

Anthony Hightower: I think his first L5R work is in Gold Edition. Honorable Seppuku, Personal Standard, and Tessan in Gold Edition are among his credits.

Bob Hobbs: Credits include original Deadly Ground and Chou-Sin. Bob's digital artwork can be found here.

Jon Hodgson: Credits include Hurricane Tattoo and Snake Tattoo.

Quinton Hoover: Not content with his page on Daydream Graphics, Quinton maintains this site, too.

David Hudnut: Credits include Ikoma Masote in Wrath of the Emperor.

Michael Kaluta: Comic art legend. There's not many other ways to describe Mr. Kaluta -- except maybe, "L5R artist"! He drew A Desperate Act, Matsu Kenji, and Shosuro Higatsuku in A Perfect Cut.

Mike Kimble: Credits include Yasuki Taka, Shinjo House Guard, Kitsu Okura, One Koku, and The Ancestral Sword of the Lion.

Heather V. Kreiter: Credits include Tanuki Spirit and Asako Takakazu.

Lissanne Lake: One of the few CCG artists who also plays -- and she's even been known to win tournaments! Credits include Feydyn Rafiq, In Search of the Future and Olyah.

Cline Siegenthaler: Those who remember Imperial Edition will get a very strong sense of deja vu when they click the link to his homepage... He's also got a lot of old monster movie posters on his website. Definitely worth a peek.

Mark Smylie: This website is mainly for a comic project Mark is working on called Artesia, but there's some L5R stuff and contact info here too! Credits include Boastful Proclamation, Berserker Rage, and Open Warfare.

Steve Snyder: Credits include the Experienced Isawa Hochiu, the Will of... kiho from Broken Blades, and Hantei Kachiko.

Mark Tedin: Not a lot here from a man who's contributed to L5R since Imperial Edition, but there is contact information. Credits include Hoseki and Shinjo Yokatsu (non-Experienced and Experienced).
