“One can learn more about the workings of a culture, not from what is contested, but from what is assumed.”

Artist Statement

Sarah Lockhart's aim is to deconstruct and demythologize popular culture and common assumptions, through playing with narrative forms and structures associated with authority. Predominantly a media artist, Lockhart's works are primarily video collage essays that foray into mundane aspects of cultural anthropology, appropriating footage from Hollywood movies, television commercials, educational and industrial films, and other sources.

This story is a work of fiction.
This academic project may or may not be more interesting than this page. This was the academic proposal for my Master's Thesis Creative Project.
Chronology: Sarah Lockhart's past shows, because I can't decide how I want to format my "proper" artist's resume.
Pictures from Lines Ensemble performance of Cornelius Cardew's "Treatise" at San Francisco Community Music Center June 19, 2004. It was a great show.
I once got my picture in the East Bay Express, back when it had two sections and before it was bought out by the New Times Corp.
I also work on this project. It has some archives up that are worth listening to.
I spend a lot of time here. I am the Programming Director, Treasurer, and a co-founder. Most people I know, know me through it.
