2002 Season Recap - Sic'em Racings Tom Stansberry and the Ray's Chevron, Napa Auto Center 360 had a pretty successful season in 2002.  We finished out the season with 2 wins, 7 Top 5's and 12 top ten finishes.  We had some great experiences this year while running three different series.  We are really looking forward to next season, and can not wait to get into the winners circle again.  Hope to see you all out at the track in 2003.

October 12th -Sic'em Racings Tom Stansberry and the Ray's Chevron, Napa Auto Center 360 Had a perfect night at Ventura Raceway on October 12th, 2002.  It all started with a great pill draw of 7, which put Tom in the front to start the heat race.  Tom was a rocket in the heat race, picking up the win with a full straight away lead. This put Tom in a good starting position for the main event (4th).  Ray decided to set the car up for the track conditions that he saw in the Semi-main, and even though there was some water put down on the track before the main. the conditions did play right into Rays set up strategy.  Tom had to struggle a little at the beginning with the car being tight but it sure paid off at the end  as he was able to take the lead after a caution on lap 16,  and pull away through lapped traffic and take the checkers ahead of a hard charging, 2. Tony Dighera (7th) 3. Chris Tramel (3rd) 4. Kevin Kierce (2nd) 5. Jimmy Crawford (6th).

Great Job Tom!!!!!

September 14th - Sic'em Racings Tom Stansberry and the Ray's Chevron, Napa Auto Center 360 was at  Kings Speedway with the 360 Bandit Sprint Cars on September 14th.   Tom qualified 10th tonight, but it was a gremlin filled night as the oil pump and water pump, both started to fail, and Tom was not able to Finish the heat race.
September 7th - Sic'em Racings Tom Stansberry and the Ray's Chevron, Napa Auto Center 360 was in action at Ventura Raceway and had a really good night.  It all started off with a heat-race win starting from the 4th position.  The Invert was 6 tonight, and this win put Tom in a 5th place starting position.  On the start Tom jumped into third place pretty fast, and stayed there until lap 11 when the two leaders got together.  This gave Tom the lead with a hard changing Gary W. Howard, and Jimmy Crawford behind him.  Tom led all the way till lap 30 when a caution came out for a spin.  This led to a green white checkered shootout between Stansberry, Howard, and Crawford.  Tom and Howard both went High and Crawford, choose the low line.  Tom Jumped the Cushion and scraped the wall a little coming out of turn two, and Crawfords low line bonzie  move payed off,  as he was able to get by both Howard Tom.  Tom was able to hold off Howard and hold on to a Second place finish.  Great Job Tom!!!!!
August 31st - The Sic'em Racing Team was @ Tucson Raceway Park on August 31st running with USAC Western States Sprint Car Series.  Qualifying was canceled after about 4 cars went out and  it started to rain.  The rain did subside and with the growing threat of more rain, it was decided to cancell the heat races and just run a 25 lap Main event (the main was actually scheduled for 40 laps).  This meant that the starting line up was to be determined by points, and an inversion of the top six.  Tom started 15th and was up to 11th place when the bleeder on the right front tire failed and took the tire pressure down to 10 lbs.  With the tire pressure down on the front tire, it gave Tom a very loose handling racecar in the Turns, and Tom ended up finishing 13th.  The car ran great, and the set up seemed to be really good till the bleeder let loose.  All in all it was a fun night of racing!!
August 17th - The Sic'em Racing Team was @ Perris Auto Speedway last night with the VRA 360 sprint cars.  There were 45 cars on hand for the races to make for an exciting night of racing.  Toms Night was not as exciting though, as it was filled with motor problems.  In his Heat Race, the car quit running after 5 laps and had the same problems in the B main.  Hopefully the motor problems will get solved when we bring out the dirt car for action at Kings Speedway in Hanford on September 14th with the Bandit Sprints.
August 10th - The Sic'em Racing Team was in action at Champion Speedway in Carson City, Nevada with the USAC 360 Pavement Western States sprint cars for Toms first pavement sprint car race this year.  Tom pulled of the trailer and the car was pretty fast.  As we practiced and it got hotter out, the car seemed to get a little bit slower.  Tom qualified 19th as he entered turn one a little too hard and scrubbed off some speed and gave him a lap of 13.143 seconds.  As this was a little disappointing, it did give Tom a great starting position for the heat race, front row, outside.  Toms had a great heat race and finished 2nd, transferring straight to the main, although with a 19th qualifying position, it would put Tom towards the back of the pack starting on the 18th row of the 50 lap feature.  On the start of the race Tom jumped from 18th to 16th and was running well, and doing all he could to pass cars.  Tom had a couple of close calls when trying to pass the car in front of him (Tony Iacobitti), but Tony's spotter was doing a great job of giving Tony the right information so that he could block Tom.  In the end Tom winded up with a 14th place finish, and also finished on the lead lap of the main.
August 3rd - The Sic'em Racing Team was in action at Perris Auto Speedway with VRA 360 Sprint cars on August 3rd.  We had a pretty good heat race with a 2nd place finish, and this also gave us a nice starting spot of 6th for the main. Tom was doing a great job battling with Crawford... Crawford got way around in two and parked Tom. Tom was coming back when another yellow occurred and he had time to look at the temp and pulled in as the motor was overheating.
July 20th - The Sic'em Racing Team was in action at Kings Speedway on July 20th. Heat finish 5th, Main finish 8th, started 12th. Great job by all drivers. Started 25 cars, 23 finished, two yellows. Track was very shiny and dusty, but there was still three wide racing all through the pack.  Race for the lead was right down to the flag.
July 13th - Tom Finished 2nd in Heat, and Finished 5th in main after spinning out while in the lead!!
July 6th - The Sic'em racing team was in Bakersfield this weekend and we had a good night, considering the way people were driving.  We started out with 4th fast time of 13.442.  This set us up for a 2nd row outside starting spot for the heat race.  While coming down for the start Tom broke traction and this was really fortunate for Tom as it allowed him some time to get his car slowed down for the pile up in front of him in Turn 1.  This pile-up took out 3 of seven cars in the heat race and on the restart, Tom took the lead and as there were only 4 cars the race was shortened at 6 laps.  This put tom with an 8th place starting position in the Feature.  The feature started at 10:30, and was full of cautions and red flags.  The First Red was a result on lap 3, as #8 Sherman May took a Hard ride from the flag stand all the way to turn 1 resulting in him Being taken to the hospital.  on the restart, the flag man apparently lets the cars start full throttle going into 3 and this really seemed to cause some unnecessary cautions along the way.  As a result of the smooth efficiency of the track and the ill handeling cars the 30 lap feature was shortened to 20 laps and ended at about 11:20.  Tom was able to get a 6th place finish and once again we were able to roll the car onto the Trailer.  Great Job Tom.
June 29th. - This weekend the Sic'em Racing team had a great night at Santa Maria Speedway.  The Night started off with 2nd fast time in qualifying.  This is the Best that Tom has qualified on dirt.  Next for Tom was a win in his Heat race.  With a win in Toms heat race this set him up for an 8th place starting position for the Main Event.  Tom had a strong finish in the shortened feature with a 2nd place finish.  This is another strong performance for Sic'em Racing.
June 22nd. - The Night at Ventura started out pretty good with a 2nd place finish in the Heat Race, and looked like it was going to be another Stansberry win as he was pulling away from the field in what appeared to be a demolition race,  that is till the Fuel line came apart on lap 13 as Tom was leading the Main by a straight away.  Tom was forced to pull off the track for safety reasons, as there was fuel on his uniform pants. Tom still managed to get an 11th place finish as many of the cars on in the race were unable to finish.
June 8th. - With another week of hard work on the set-up of the car for a Track that Tom has not raced at before, the Sic'em Racing Rays Chevron Napa Auto Care Center 360 sprint car had a great outing.  Tom Finished 1st in his Heat race and then led the main event for a while and finally finished second.  This was a great outing for the Sic'em Racing Team and shows our strength.  Keep them elbows up Tom!!!
May 25th. - Ray has been working hard at the set up of the 360 VRA sprint car Driven by Tom Stansberry, and it paid off at Ventura tonight.  With a second place finish in Tom's heat race, put the 360 driver on the out side of the front row.    At the Drop of the green, Tom took to the highline to lead the first lap, and never looked back till the checkered flag dropped.  This is Toms first win of the year!!!  Great job Tom!!!

April 27th. -  Tom had a really good outing with the VRA Sprint Cars and finished 4th in the heat race placing Tom and his 360 Sic'em Racing Rays Chevron Napa Auto Care Center sprint car into the main starting 15th.  With a really bad track Tom was able to climb from 15th to 5th climbing 10 spots putting on a battle for 5th 4th and 3rd, catching the 5th place spot.

April 20th -  Tom had a really good time out at Bakersfield finishing 1st in his heat race.  There was a lot of Rocks on the Oildale facility and this caused Toms Visor to get collapsed in.  Toms Car was dialed in for the main and looked to have a good run, but there was not enough protection to the brake lines and when a rock was thrown at Toms car it took off the brake line.  Tom had to pull off because of not having any brakes.  Although the car did not finish, it was a great outing for Sic'em Racing.
