The course for the First-Timer. You've always wanted to try backpacking. This is the no-more-excuses course. Increase your learning curve! Become competent, comfortable, & confident with others like yourself on this one course! Pre-trip information and orientation Thursday evening will prepare you for ease and comfort on our 3-day, 2-night trip, Friday through Sunday, into the Yosemite backcountry. While enjoying the beauty of the Yosemite backcountry, learn route finding using map and compass, establishing a camp while employing minimal impact practices, the basics of packing light (you'll carry no more than 35 lbs.), outdoor cookery and menu planning, natural history and personal safety. Course includes group cooking equipment, tents, safety equipment, breakfasts, lunches, snacks, dinners, hot drinks, wilderness permits, permit fees, professional guide, instruction and pre-trip informational support in one of my all-time favorite places. All courses cover the core curricullum.
