PASTORAL LETTER

My Dear People of God,

St. John’s parishioners, since the inception of the church, have been reaching out to others in different ways.  This is the precise message of the Gospel of today’s Sunday that Christ wants us to continue to reach out to the outcast, the enemy, the unloved, marginalized, and the voiceless in a pastoral caring manner.  God shepherds us with Love and is calling us to share that very love with others.

Christ chose Apostles and sent them to others.  In turn, we have to do the same.  God could have done the work of redemption in the world all by Himself, but He wants each one of us to cooperate and do the work.  Every baptized Catholic has the mission to foster vocations in order to get men and women, young and old, who are dedicated to God in the world.  Therefore, again I request everybody to foster vocations in our Diocese and to the whole world.  We need men and women committed to serve God and bring Christ into the very heart of society.

Let us encourage our young people to respond to God’s call like those willing to serve our state in the military.  This can be done if we pray for vocations of priesthood, religious life, and diaconate.  These vocations spring from among one’s children, brothers and sisters, relatives, friends, and acquaintances.  Let us always as a community of St. John pray for God’s grace to foster vocations and maybe our different parish organizations could continue more to support spiritually and materially as they do to our seminarians.

May God bless all priests, missionaries who have left their homeland, brothers and sisters, abundant graces to do His will.  I thank the school of St. John for dedicating a special time every Friday morning Mass when school is in session to pray for vocations.  May God bless us all to cooperate with the sacred ministers to do God’s will here on earth.

In a special way, we wish all our esteemed Father’s “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY”.  We appreciate your fatherly love shown to our families and this church.  May God give you many blessings.

I would like to thank you for your prayers, input, and especially the search committee in helping me to get a new principal, a well-known public principal, administrator, counselor, and a good outstanding Catholic.  Mrs. Jane Sears, welcome to our parish community to sow the seed of Catholic faith, always needed in our parish.

May God bless you all,

Fr. Festus

PERPETUAL ADORATION:  “Jesus healed ten lepers.  Only one came back to give Him thanks for the miracle of a clean body.  Jesus said, "Were not all ten made whole?  Where are the other nine?"  Every day Jesus performs a much greater miracle for us.  The gift of the Holy Eucharist makes us immortal with divine life.  Each communion will leave our soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven.  Despite the fact that Jesus asks us to give thanks for this great gift by coming back during the week and visiting Him in the Blessed Sacrament, very few do.  Your sacrifice will make up for the ingratitude of 'the other nine', and for the many who never think of visiting Him at all."  --from The Value of Sacrifice.  Direct all questions on Adoration to Victor De Lapo, 335-1201.
