PASTORAL LETTER

My Dear People of God,

Each parishioner receives a personal call to follow the Master.  If we respond to Christ's invitation we will be filled with peace and true joy.  The joy comes when we give oneself for others.  Each member is endowed with spiritual and material richness and can be shared in our families, in this church, and to the state.

Christ is calling us through the example of the rich young man to try our best to follow Him.  Sometimes there are obstacles and perhaps the obstacle is being selfish or sullen in a marriage, always wanting our way and being disruptive when we don't get it.  Maybe it is prone to gossip, taking delight in putting other people down or spreading terrible stories about them.  We may be the type of person who looks down on the homeless, holds in contempt those who are on welfare, and feels uncomfortable towards immigrants.

We must search our consciences constantly in order to live in the peace of Christ's love in our lives.  May the Lady of the Holy Rosary intercede for us that we may learn on how to use wisely our time, talents, and treasures of life.

May God bless you all,

Fr. Festus

VESPERS WITH PRIESTS FROM THE DIOCESE, THURS., OCT. 15, 5:00PM:  As part of the Year of the Priest, each parish takes turn hosting a meeting for the priests of the Tulsa Diocese.  St. John’s will be hosting this month.  ALL PARISHIONERS are invited to join the priests to pray Vespers together.

PERPETUAL ADORATION:  "My people, when you see My Blessed Sacrament, you are seeing Three Persons in One God.  Where I am, the Father and Holy Spirit are there also.  I thank all who come to visit Me in Adoration.  For those who reach out to Me, I am there in their midst bestowing My graces upon you.  Always remember to come and visit Me.  You all have been given many gifts, but few come back to thank Me.  Work hard every day to gain in your faith.  My graces are here for the asking.  You are the one who must make the forward move to accept Me into your life.  Go and walk with Me by your side and all Heaven will greet you when you come home to Me."  Direct all questions on Adoration to Victor DeLapo, 335-1201.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHTS:

Who is a Christian Steward?

One who receives God’s gifts gratefully, cherishes and

tends them in a responsible and accountable manner,

shares them in justice and love with all, and returns

them with increase to the Lord. The definition, rooted

in biblical and church tradition, corresponds with Jesus

Christ’s famous parable of the talents Matthew 25: 14-30.
