In Touch

Walking with my Nimue
     In the Wood of Would-Be,
She took me lightly skipping
To see what I could see.

Passing through the Portal,
We saw a barrel of dust
Which sparkled like her smile,
"Try it: it is a must."

We flew to clouds and higher.
     We giggled in the rain.
We licked the mint of heaven,
     And returned to ground again.

We walked through fields of rainbow;
     Took showers in the flame
Of majestic, burning candles
(I will never be the same).

We entered caves of pillows;
To my surprise she kissed me.
I yucked an uck of cooties
And chased her to the sea.

We walked on waves of champagne
     And dolphinned in the bubbles;
Took flight on giant seagulls,
     And left behind my troubles.

We danced with friends four-footed,
     Sang bawdy, silly songs,
Talked seriously of crayons,
     And rang the dinner gong.

She held a Horn of Plenty
For all of us to feed.
We groaned our satiation:
She fed us what we need.

The sun sank happy singing.
The moon rose full and pink.
The stars were chorus girls.
The sky grew dark as think.

We hugged us all together,
     All naked and alive.
We petted and affirmed,
     And then went all inside.

Her house is made of wishes
     With windows to new worlds.
We tickled toes and ribses
     And spun in gleeful twirls.

She took me to her private tower,
     A jillion miles tall,
And sat at her tea-table.
     She whispered me her call.

"I know you’re feeling sad sometimes
     "That magic’s out of reach.
"You wince at steel and carapace,
"But here is what I teach:

"The child you were is still alive
     "And playing here with me,
"And you may come to be with us
     "Whenever you feel the need.

"Just speak my name in prayer and ha,
"And I will take your hand,
"And we will come to my domain.
     "Our party will be grand!"

And so I left her smiling
As I soared me to my home,
But I know she’ll be beside me
Where ever it is I roam.
