On the topic of restaurants, the quality of the food at most Hollister restaurants is good, it's the service that brings everything down, though. I have yet to find one restaurant in town that has consistently demonstrated good service. Hollister's restaurants seem to be the exact opposite of San Jose restaurants. Restaurants in San Jose tend to have mediocre food but generally decent service despite the high population. Hollister restaurants have good food but generally poor service despite the low population. Why is this? I tend to shy away from eating out in Hollister because I never know what to expect. If there are any needles in the haystack restaurants in town that offer good service, then do us all a favor and list them here for us!
As for other businesses, I've generally been pleased with service. The employees of Ace Hardware are pleasant, as are the employees of Safeway, to name only a few. The mom and pop liquour stores are also run very well. But again, too bad those that run the restaurants in town don't take a lesson from those folks.
