Don't laugh, it could probably very easily happen to your house or the next place of business you visit.
One of the harshest and frightening criticisms that have been heaped upon the city of Hollister is how many homes and buildings built within the past ten years or so have been built without the confidence of proper inspections. Certain vocal community members have even gone so far as to decorate their vehicles with their cries of "Hollister: Home of the brand new fixer-upper homes." This shouldn't have to happen. When did the city stop caring about the quality of its buildings, homes, and streets?
A bad infrastructure is the result of bad city oversight, and one that could potentially threaten the lives and livelihood of the city's residents. Imagine opening up your business for the day and having to close early and sandbag the entrance because an outdated water main collapsed, flooding the main street through town. Imagine watching the concrete of your driveway and/or foundation develop unsightly spots due to contaminated building materials. Imagine your water being so hard that you have to replace your water heater every five years. Think it's just a nightmare? Think again. Think Hollister.
