Based in Austin Texas, the Asleep at the Wheel Racing Team (tm) recently celebrated our 219th event win. We also have approximately 126 runner-ups, and 129 semi-final finishes running in Stock Eliminator, Quick Rod, Electronics, Footbrake, and Jr Dragster Bracket categories at dragstrips in the Central, Southern, and Northern Texas area (As of November 9th, 2009).

This is our 2006 Joe Monden Rear Engine Dragster that we race
in Super Comp and ET bracket competition.
It is currently the home of a Hans Fuestal 565c.i. Big Block Chevy engine and has clocked
sub 7.90 quarter mile elapsed times at 170+mph.
Driven by team co-owner Tim Lee who has accumulated 128 wins,
81 runner-ups, and 86 semi-final round finishes since 1989.
This is our 2005 Danny Nelson Racecraft
Rear Engine Dragster that we race in ET bracket competition.
It currently has a 427c.i. Big Block Chevy and has clocked 8.60 quarter mile elapsed times
at 153+mph.
Driven by Dylan Lee who has accumulated a career 90 wins, 44
runner-ups, and 42 semi-final round finishes.
This is our 86 Buick Regal T-type that can be seen in the
SpeedTV coverage of the San Antonio Pinks All Out race.
This car was formally run as a NHRA Super Stock GT class car, but has now been reassigned
to ET bracket duty.
It utilizes a Chevy small block bracket motor. The transmission is a Jerry Backstrand
modified Hughes Powerglide using a Hughes converter. The Eas-Tex Racecars built back-half
has 4-link and Koni coilovers, a Ford 9" housing Strange Engineering components, and
a 5.14 gearset. We run this car in Top ET bracket class (AKA Electronics) and
occasionally Heavy/Modified (footbrake) classes.
Here's our 86 Olds Cutlass that we've campaigned in Stock Eliminator Crate Motor category. Running it in H or I/CM class with a Beck built GMPP Vortec 330hp rated 350 CI dish piston small block Chevy motor, it uses a Jerry Backstrand modified Hughes Powerglide with a PTC converter and a 12 bolt rear w/Mark Williams components and a Richmond 4.88 gearset. This combination runs mid/low-11s in the 1/4 mile, mid/low-7's in the 1/8th, depending on the class weight package. Both Tim and Dylan have run this car in Stock Eliminator class competition. This car is for sale turnkey or rolling. Click on the picture for more info about the car.

AsleepAtTheWheelRacing Team dedicates Tulsa IHRA Mr.Gasket Pro-Am
Sportsman Nationals Independence Day Winner's Circle Appearances to AnySoldier.com Unit
Volunteers

(Austin TX - 7/4/05) - With a win in Junior Dragster Advanced and a Runner-up finish in Hays Stock, AsleepAtTheWheelRacing team drivers Dylan and Tim Lee celebrated a special Independence Day weekend at the Tulsa IHRA Division 4 Mr.Gasket Pro-Am Sportsman National event.
Team crew chief Judy Lee stated, "Because they are ensuring our freedoms to do things like race, we are dedicating our win & runner-up finishes from this event to the soldier volunteers overseas supporting the AnySoldier.com efforts. We especially want to thank the IHRA and Tulsa Raceway announcers for reminding everyone of the soldier's sacrifices on this Independence Day weekend"
AnySoldier.com, a "501(c)(3)" non-profit charitable organization, was created by Marty and Sue Horn of Maryland when their son, Army Sgt. Brian Horn, was deployed as a paratrooper in the war effort. When the family sent care packages of creature comfort items, Brian asked them to include items for fellow soldiers as well. The family began sending additional care packages addressed "Attn: Any Soldier" to share with others in his unit. As these efforts were duplicated by friends and family, Brian persuaded other soldiers to assist with distribution of items. However, with the Department of Defenses security decision in 2001 to ban care packages simply addressed to "any servicemember",
Marty and Sue saw a direct need to be fulfilled. AnySoldier.com was created to fill that requirement. The website maintains an address database that allows soldier representatives from deployed units to volunteer as a mailing contact that will accept the care packages and distribute them to fellow soldiers in the "attn: any soldier" philosophy. Currently the website lists over 3800 troop contacts willing to distribute items. It connects citizens with active duty service members and even allows the units to post specific items desired. The items range from writing materials to snacks, health/hygiene products, stateside magazines & newspapers, and even morale boosting letters and cards for service members that receive little or no mail from home.
