Biography of: John Albert Trude

2. John Albert2 TRUDE, (John1), born 13 Nov 1785 Horse Neck, South Kingstown, Rhode Island; died about 1866 Chautauqua County, New York. He married, about 1807, Elizabeth HARTWELL, born 16 Dec 1787; the daughter of Daniel HARTWELL and Elizabeth KEYS and a sister to Mary who married John's brother Nathan. John served in the United States Cavalry, Company 17, Division 11, rank Corporal/Private. It was about 1800 when he moved, with his folks, to Saratoga County, New York where he later met and married Elizabeth Hartwell. The 1820 and 1830 census show him as age 26-45 with a wife the same age and living in Wilna, Jefferson County, New York. He moved to Gerry, Chautauqua County, New York about 1834, where he and Elizabeth lived out their lives. He appeared in the 1835 New York census with his wife Elizabeth and a family of five sons and one daughter; one female having died that year; also states one female under the age of 16. He was also shown in the 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1865 Census records with his wife; neither were found after, assuming they died between 1865 and 1870. John Albert and Elizabeth Hartwell owned a 20 acre farm in Gerry, New York which they sold February 1859 to William R. Wilson. An 1867 map of the town of Gerry shows Mrs. Trude living close to Mill Creek near Sinclarville after the death of John Albert.
