Biography of: William D. Trude

3. William D.2 TRUDE, (John1), born 21 Jun 1790, Horse Neck, South Kingstown, Rhode Island; died about 1868 in St. Charles, Kane County, Ill. He married, about 1812, Elizabeth (Betsey) ELDRED, born in 17 Sept 1790, Washington County, New York and died 11 Oct 1853 in St Charles, Kane County, Ill. and is buried in North Cemetery. Her parents were William ELDRED, born Mar 1753, Exeter, RI died 17 Aug 1837, Clarke, Ontario, Canada and Elizabeth WELLS, born 31 Mar 1765, died Jul 1842, Middleport, NY.

As a boy, about 1800, William moved to Saratoga County, New York and it was probably there that he later married Betsey. They moved, first to St Lawrence County, New York where most of their children were probably born. The 1820 census for Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont shows a William Trude and some of their children may have been born there. They were living at Lisbon, St Lawrence County, New York in 1830. About 1840 they moved to Niagara County, New York and the 1850 census shows them in Hartland Township. About 1853 William moved his entire family, married children and all, to the midwest and he settled in St. Charles, Kane County, Illinois. Betsey died soon after. He was a farmer.
