... There is now renewed confidence in our country and our convictions. For this country is moving and it must not stop. It cannot stop. For this is a time for courage and a time for challenge. Neither conformity nor complacency will do. Neither the fanatics nor the faint-hearted are needed. And our duty as a party is not to our party alone, but to the Nation, and, indeed., to all mankind. Our duty is not merely the preservation of political power but the preservation of peace and freedom. - John F. Kennedy (from an advance copy of a speech to be delivered to the Texas State Democratic Executive Committee, 11-22-63)

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- President Theodore Roosevelt.
"My brain is like a chicken pot pie." - Rick Perry, 7-25-94.
Lottery: A tax on people who are bad at Math.
Florida: $35,000,000.00 to teach people to play the lottery. $7,000 for voter education. - Danny Schechter, 2002
The year 2000 will see men still arguing about the President's death. - Harrison Salisbury, 1964
The VCR is to the American film producer and the American public as the Boston Strangler is to a woman home alone. - Jack Valenti, 1984
I think there is a lingering vestigial desire for literacy and I pride myself on being literate to the point of pretentiousness. - Tom Lehrer
Don't eat anything you can't lift. - Miss Piggy
What a waste it is to lose one's mind or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. - Dan Quayle
When I was a kid I got no respect. I worked in a pet store. People kept askin' how big I get. - Rodney Dangerfield
The early bird gets the worm. But look what happens to the early worm. - Alfred E. Neuman
But nobody reads. Don't believe people read in this country. There will be a few professors that will read the record... the public will read very little. - Allen Dulles, 7-9-64.
If I were running against George Bush, there might not be enough Secret Service guys to protect his jaw. - Bob Slagle (CBS Evening News, November, 1988)
We need this forum to exchange ideas without the necessity of having to defend ourselves in public. The various Klingons and Romulans will eventually pick up the gist of what is said - but by the time they do, the information will either be out of date, discarded, or agreed upon - so that their observations will not carry much weight. - Dick Isley
We all know what "good operating practice" is, don't we? It's whatever we want it to be at the time. - Stephen A. Mendelsohn
"Who cares what you think?" - President George W. Bush, July 4, 2001

"The opposition stands for a redistribution of wealth - - from the mainstream economy and the 'middle class' - - to persons who receive the very largest corporate bonuses." The opposition loves regressive taxes. The public observes the impact in the form of price increases for the necessities of life, and with increased government fees, tolls and taxes at the State and Local levels. Democrats offer a different view of the public interest than the opposition, and a vision of progressive, responsible government.

I have collected comedy music for a number of years. It is an effective diversion from some of the heavier things in life... such as those I found while growing up in Dallas, Texas in the 1960's. Artists like Allan Sherman, Tom Lehrer, Peter Schickele, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Stan Freberg, Spike Jones, Benny Bell, The Capitol Steps, Kip Adotta, Ray Stevens, Elvira, Cheech & Chong, Ogden Edsel, Frank Zappa, Julie Brown, Steve Martin, Shel Silverstein, Tom "T Bone" Stankus, Napoleon XIV, Freddie Blassie, Benny Hill and Big Daddy are important parts of my collection. In addition to records and CDs, I have a number of recordings of the "Doctor Demento Show." This weekly radio program, from Los Angeles, is a focus point for those of us who enjoy the entertainment diversion that comedy music uniquely provides. If you are a radio advertiser, this kind of program provides a special opportunity to address people who actively listen to the radio - and to every word that is broadcast. If you make decisions for a radio station, it is a special opportunity for your bottom line, and for your advertisers to connect with motivations of the public to purchase products and services. Some of my fellow Texans have posted complaints on the Internet about being 'stuck with a Lemon.' Yet we have a solution. The Texas "Lemon Law." I worked over a period of three Sessions of the Texas Legislature to plug loopholes in this Law (the 1991 amendments signed into law by Governor Ann Richards), and feel this needs a little promotion. It's a shame that some manufacturers of motor vehicles have more experience 'sticking people with Lemons,' than simply fixing the problems and leaving customers (and their local franchised dealers) happy. And guess which out-of-state manufacturer has been required to buy back more Lemons than any other? It's the very one that went out of their way to get my attention to this problem, and to the loopholes in the old Law. Having an effective Lemon Law gives citizens and auto makers the opportunity to settle these cases without going to court.
And for that former Governor of a certain adjoining state that did not have a Lemon Law - who told me he "got in trouble" proposing one: The people of your state are welcome to copy ours. (The fact that you and your wife were elected to higher offices is no excuse.)
The Texas "Lemon Law" is found in Vernon's Revised Texas Civil Statutes, Article 4413(36), Section 6.07.
