Texas Political and Legislative Committee

TPLC stands for the Texas Political and Legislative Committee of the Communication Workers of America. It is the legislative arm of CWA. TPLC was established in 1961 by a partnership of Texas CWA locals and the International CWA to assure that the employees represented by CWA could have input and speak with a unified voice in advancing the democratic concepts of social justice, freedom and tolerance. Benefits won by your Union through contract negotiations can be taken away from you by anti-worker legislation. TPLC is your input and answer to preserving your interests and gains.

TPLC works toward accomplishing these goals by:

  • Maintaining a full time lobbyist in Austin
  • Maintaining programs to keep members informed of issues
  • Maintaining a program to register members to vote
  • Contacting members of Congress and lobby for worker friendly legislation
  • Working in the legislative field to protect and expand jobs for CWA members

This TPLC-CWA website is dedicated to the active and retired men and women of the Communication Workers of America whose daily work and sacrifice on the job has made the lives for all working families better.
