4th SPECIAL SESSION ENDS -- REPUBLICANS FAIL TO FUND PUBLIC EDUCATION

The 4th Special Session of the Texas Legislature ended at 11:30 am Monday May 17th. The Republican controlled Texas Legislature proved in this session that they can rule but when it comes to "governing," they lack the will and experience to succeed. Funding Education is a priority issue for Democrats in Texas, and should be for the Republican leadership. However, they spent three Special Legislative Sessions of the Texas Legislature redrawing political districts for themselves and attempting to defeat incumbent senior Democratic Congressmen. They ignored educating our kids.

It's a shame and a disgrace not to stress educating our kids, but the good news in this special session is that we were able to prevent bad, anti-worker legislation from passing into law. We can be thankful for this success. Republican Governor Rick Perry now finds himself in a very bad situation. Three Special Sessions for selfish politics, one Special Session for ignoring our kids and now he may have to call another Special Session "to tax us" to pay for our kids' education.
