Bell Golf Club Of |

I
Welcome to the first Bell Club Newsletter of 2007. This letter will be published on a monthly basis. We plan to cover tournament results, upcoming events, membership status, words of wisdom from our president, rules trivia and even a chance for members to sound off to the editor. This is your newsletter, so subject to our editorial policy, we welcome your feedback and content for future publications.

Upcoming Tournaments
This year’s campaign began with the highly successful
Silverado North Tournament. But don’t
forget to sign up for these rapidly approaching events. Tom Baker has made it easier than ever to
attend. He accepts e-mails, phone calls,
voice mails, completed sign up forms mailed directly to his house or even an in
person chat. Mr. Fosdick has added a new
link on the Web Page, http://pages.sbcglobal.net/trfosdick/Signups.htm.
for current signup status. We will try to update this list on a weekly
basis up to close date. Email and verbal commitments are OK, but the
printed signup form with check is better, http://pages.sbcglobal.net/trfosdick/1st%20Qtr%20Apps%202007.htm.
Emails, verbals and forms with checks are all commitments to play and pay.

Poppy Hills is a challenging, par-72 venue that weaves through the Del Monte

Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
This beautiful, tree-lined layout measures 6,833 yards from the blue tees,
6,237 from the whites, 5,403 from the forward tees and features large,
undulating greens, many of which are well-protected by water and bunkers.

Well folks, if
you didn't make it out to Silverado North on the 19th you missed a real
treat. Over the past several years the tournament seems to have some of
the best winter weather around. After a minor frost delay we were able to
get out on the course. Silverado did a great job of not scheduling early
Tee Times and they instituted a limited shot gun start so all was
good, thanks go to them. The usual gang was all there to enjoy
the day. There was a Ray Straka sighting, it was nice to have him back on
the course with a neck that was working. Naturally Ed Trotter was almost
late, something about a traffic accident on Hwy 680, Ed was last seen by a CHP
doing about 100 to make his Tee Time. It was a tough day on the course
for some of us. There must have been an evil greens keeper who seemed to
find every tough location on the greens. Putting was not made any easier
by the fact that the greens were lightning fast, go figure. All in all it
was a great day to be outside doing something you love to do. I hope to
see you all at the next event in February in Pleasanton. Bring a
friend and make them join the club.
Membership
Corner
The bell club
currently has 56 active members for the 2007 season. All members are invited to participate in the
2007 State Telco Tournament. State Telco
qualifying will be the low six differentials from the ten tournaments between
Poppy Hills (3/23) and Lakeridge (7/21).
Tom Baker is
working on the possibility of having two joint tournaments with the East Bay
Bell Golf Club to increase interest and to build some camaraderie. Look for details in future newletters.
