All the News that Fits, We Print

It’s always nice to come out to the golf course and endure the slings and arrows of your fellow clubbers.  The Gold Country Tour did not disappoint.  From Friday’s opening “nice baseball swing’ greeting from John Brown to Sunday’s ‘don’t forget forget your wallet’ caution from Stumpy, the week-end was chuck-full of the stuff that builds out memories and destroys any hope for self-esteem. Even my math skills were brought into question, as I learned that 440 yards minus 170 yards does not equal a 300 yard drive.  Hell, anything over 200 yards is a 300 yard drive for me.  I also collected my first house assisted Par on La Contenta’s  # 7 and learned from Roger and Dennis how white stakes really can be red if you wear the right sunglasses.  By Sunday I was so exhausted I limped in with a nine over on the last two holes. But no DQ! On to Franklin Canyon

Presidents Message

Even though I missed the middle of the latest 3 day tournament and had to drive back and forth I had a great time with great friends.  The weather was outstanding, thanks Mr. Baker for ordering such a great setup for the 3 days.  According to rumors Tom Weir (89, net 63) on
Saturday will never play with yours truly again after surrounding that score with poor scores on the days he played with me.  Tom is looking for new partners to play with, any volunteers.  Personally I'm getting tired of seeing him shoot in the low 90's and high 80's with that handicap, someone call the handicap chairman.  Speaking of people with high handicaps that can shoot lights out, where is Harold posting these days, anyone who shoots a 79 with his handicap should have the IRS checking his tax returns.  I heard that Harold made it look easy.  Hum, maybe there was something in the water up at La Contenta.
It was great seeing all the gang, Straka's, Pruss's, and that other lovely couple; John Brown & Stumpy.  Roger was still smiling on Sunday morning but may have not felt that way in the afternoon, can someone make sure he's really OK.  I'm sure we must have had a bet and owes me money.  It was a great time and again great friends.
For those who did not participate this last weekend, see what you are missing.  Get out there and sign up for Franklin Canyon so I can leverage some abuse on you as well. Hey, bring a friend and I can really share the wealth.
