All the News that Fits, We Print

The season is coming to a close.  The State Telco tournament serves as that ‘last call’ notice.  The annual club breakfast awards ceremony with solicitation for 2009 membership dues completes the picture.  Then, on to Silverado and another champaign.  This marks my last newsletter.  Stewardship will be passed on to Leon. This is true change we can believe in.  I’ll miss the chance to engage intellectually in this forum, the guilt I felt when months passed without me publishing any results (hey, I’m Catholic.. guilt is good), and the opportunity to occasionally skewer some of the members. Thanks to Tom Baker for all the hard work in organizing the tournaments.  I think we had another outstanding year.  More thanks to Tom Fosdick, Mr. Stats and Studies, who always had to hang around to receive all the score cards, then update the club standings. We should at least buy him one drink per tournament to compensate for his time. Kudos to Steve Spiva, El Presidente, who has guided the club through another successful year .  And Roger, the quiet money man, who takes our paltry dues and has somehow been able to buy two time shares in Boca and still float checks for the tournaments.

Be sure to attend this week-end’s tournament.  The food, weather, and comradarie will all be excellent.  The golf, who knows.

Upcoming Tournaments

The remaining schedule for 2008 is below.  Plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the game, weather, scenery, and camaraderie that makes golf the true sport of kings.  Tom Baker has made it easier than ever to attend.  He accepts e-mails, phone calls, voice mails, completed sign up forms mailed directly to his house or even an in person chat.  Mr. Fosdick has added a new link on the Web Page, http://pages.sbcglobal.net/trfosdick/Signups.htm. for current signup status.  We will try to update this list on a weekly basis up to close date.  Email and verbal commitments are OK, but the printed signup form with check is better, http://pages.sbcglobal.net/trfosdick/1st%20Qtr%20Apps%202007.htm

Emails, verbals and forms with checks are all commitments to play and pay.

Enjoy World Class Napa Valley Golf Courses at Silverado

Golf Information | An excellent way to enjoy Silverado's natural beauty is to play the two 18-hole Napa Valley Wine Country golf courses, each in the distinctive style of their architect, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. These premier Napa Valley golf resort courses cover 360 acres and feature lush vegetation, ponds, lakes, three sweetwater creeks, trees arching over the fairways and artfully placed traps and greens.  The 6,685-yard South Course challenges golfers with side-hill lies and more than a dozen water crossings, while the North Course stretches 6,900 yards but is occasionally more forgiving. A complete golf pro shop replete with Napa Valley Wine Country gift items is available in the Club House. A staff of top professionals is on hand to assist guests in improving their golf game.
