Len Hess Piano Service __A_ Full service piano shop

Keep your piano well tuned and playing its best with Len Hess Piano Service ,Setting the standard for south Texas and San Antonio since 1979

Custom hammers, action rebuilding, refinish, new keytops, rebushing .New pianos should be tuned a minimum of four times the first year they are in use and twice yearly thereafter. This is done to compensate for the stretching of the new strings and if done properly will effect how well the piano holds tune from then on.
This is known as the break in service and is recommended by the Manufactures and others in the know.

STRESS and TENSION
A piano that is properly tuned to concert pitch of "A"440 can have any ware from 20 to 50 tons of tension. Each string holding approxiamately 100 to 190 foot pounds of tension.Thats enough pull to raise the roof on many homes built in the U.S. today.Further supporting the position of the need for frequent "4"tunings the first year a piano is in use and twice yearly therafter.

Tuning $100 in San Antonio
Pitch Raise $50 and up,
I have no quarrel with those who tune for less
They know what their service is worth

What is regulation?
Regulation describes the process of re-adjusting the action or mechanical portion of the piano. This becomes necessary due to the settling and packing of the felt that occurs from use and by changes in humidity which affect both the wooden parts and felt all of which affects the original dimensions and relationships of the moving parts that were set by the factory. A vital process in maintaining the playability of the instrument.Quality regulation is time consuming and expensive.
Experience is everything. You get what you pay for.
so if you want the best
remember its Hess.

Professional service is the key.
In the first year, the National Piano Manufacturers Association recommends that you have your piano tuned four times. This is a period of environmental adjustment for a new piano and proper attention is important.
After the first year, the piano should be tuned at least twice each year depending upon the frequency of use and atmospheric conditions. Add years of playing satisfaction.
Follow these few, simple directions and you will keep your piano in superb condition. Contact Len Hess Piano Service regarding regular maintenance of your piano, or search www.pianoworld.com under "tuners" for your state or region.
