Day 3 - January 10
Stephanie
is still stable yet critical and is on a ventilator in ICU at Swedish Medical
Center in Denver. Her spinal surgery for today has been postponed until possibly
Monday - the neurosurgeon is concerned about possible complications during surgery
and the impact it could have on her brain contusion. Once her spinal surgery
does occur (she has a burst fracture of L5 and will have BMP, titanium rods
& screws from sacrum to L4), then pelvis surgery will follow a couple days
later and, a
few more days after that, hopefully her left leg & foot. She is responding
to verbal commands and other sensory stimuli. Phenomena is a continual concern
and she is receiving pain meds, insulin, nutrition, and other fluids. We have
a long way to go and it is truly in God's hands. They are keeping her sedated
to decrease her discomfort and mobility.
God was definitely watching over Stephanie and Chris
at the time of the accident...it could be worse. His right leg is broken in
multiple places and he is alert and conscious and will likely be moved out of
ICU in a day or two. We will visit the Colorado Trooper who was at the scene
on Monday.
We are staying with Sam & Ruth Lynn Cotter from
the Colorado General Baptist Convention as a result of the amazing prayer chain
that God has revealed. They are a wonderful couple and truly a blessing. Mary
Hawthorne has stopped by and we hope to see them next weekend.
We have a long road ahead of us and, God willing, we will
bring Stephanie home soon for continued treatment and physical therapy. It is
amazing the wondrous works He sets before us and the resources He provides.
Thank you to each of you for your continued prayers for healing, guidance, strength
and courage.
God Bless you, Bill & Heather Adair
