Day 74 - March 21

     Must we be doctors to recognize Jesus as the Great Physician? Or an attorney or psychologist to see that He is our Counselor and Advocate? Just to witness what we have in the past few months we know He is our Comforter, Savior, and Source of Life; our Sure Foundation and our Guide.
     If we questioned our faith before January 8, 2004, after seeing His amazing handiwork in Stephanie's rescue and recovery, we would be fools to question still today. It is a miracle that the accident did not take her life - whether from the impact of the semi, flying debris from the car's disintegration, or her landing on the ground. It is a miracle that she survived the brain hemorrhage, broken body and medical delays. That she avoided pneumonia in CCU and tolerated heavy medications so well. It is a miracle that she always seemed to have the best-of-the-best in medical care along the way and that our every need had been fulfilled without a request from us. It is a miracle that today, less than 3 months later, she is at home, able to converse coherently, and is becoming more independently mobile each day.

     Today was a good day. We went to church this morning, as is our custom. Afterward we traveled to the local Livestock Show in Mercedes for some fresh air and fun. It was good to get out. Stephanie lasted most of the day and started hurting as she grew tired, as any of us do. She is still wheelchair bound, but being able to stand in place from time to time helps relieve the pressure on the screws in her sacrum and lets her stretch her legs. We wrapped up the day with take-out from The Longhorn (BBQ brisket and beans).

     We are gradually reducing her meds, as mentioned in a previous update, and hope to be relatively med-free in the next 30 to 45 days. The rehab doctor is still working on the coordination of her out patient therapy and we hope to begin within a week.

     Please continue to pray for:
     - healing, the re-knitting of her bones in her back, hip, hand and feet;
     - patience, which is greatly needed on this long path toward totally
        mobility, removal of her back brace, and eventual independence;
     - strength of mind and spirit, so that each of us can continue this
        journey with faith and perseverance;
     - endurance, for those times when we grow weary from daily tasks,
        physical therapy, and everything else that happens along the way; and
     - gratitude to God for all He has done and continues to do.

God Bless. Bill & Heather Adair
