Using Corel Draw & Photo Paint to Create Banners,
Buttons & Bars...
Set your screen to a Universal Screen Resolution: 800x600
or 640x480
Remember, in Drawing programs, whether Corel or Word, all objects are
in layers
Banners are typically 600wx100h, depending on your use.
Banners:

Create a New Graphic in Corel.

Save the file.
-
Use the directory that contains your Web pages.

Use short file names with no spaces, no symbols, and all
lowercase letters.

Draw a Rectangle on the paper on your screen.
-
Using the Rectangle Tool on the Tool Bar.

Use Zoom or the Zoom Tool to get closer to the Rectangle to see what you're
doing.

Type the text that you want to appear in the Banner.

Using the Text Tool click in the Rectangle and

Change the Text you just typed.

Use the Pick Tool to select
-
Choose a font, a TT font so that it can
be resized easily

Use the x in the middle of the text to position the text in the
rectangle
-
Resize the text by dragging in or out one of the boxes on the perimeter
of the text. Make sure it is inside of the rectangle, boxes
and all.

Select a color for the Rectangle
-
Use the Pick Tool on the Rectangle
and the Fill Tool to choose a fill.
Remember the tips of color usage.

Fill Color uses one color

Fountain Fill allows a variety of colors

Pattern Fill uses a pattern

Texture Fill fills with a texture

Select a color for the Text
-
Use the Pick Tool on the Text and the
Fill
Tool to choose a fill. Remember the tips
of color usage.

Texture Fill fills with a texture

Add a drop shadow to the text.

Use the Pick Tool on the Text and the
Interactive Blend Tool, then choose Interactice Drop Shadow.

Click and drag on the Text to make the shadow appear.

Change the Shadow color use the Drop Shadow Toolbar and choose a new color
from Drop Shadow Color

When perfect...Convert to Bitmap
-
Save first!

Use the Pick Tool to drag an imaginary
box around the entire banner.

From the Menu bar choose Bitmap then Convert to Bitmap.

Set Color to RGB 24-bit
-
Set Resolution to 200 dpi
-
Edit the Bitmap
-
Right click to and choose Edit, which will open Corel Photo Paint
-
From the Photo Paint Menu bar choose Image then Resample
-
Click "Maintain Aspect Ratio"
-
Convert to pixels
-
Change horizontal Resolution to 100
-
Change Image size to 600 wide
-
Save the Bitmap
-
Save the File As a JPEG
-
Use a Compression of approximately 25%
-
Choose "Optimize" as the Encoding Method
-
Preview before finalizing
-
Close Corel Photo Paint.

Close Corel Draw without saving the Bitmap changes. If you
do save the Bitmap conversion in "Draw", you separating the images will
be very difficult later.
