What does your future entail?  Don't we all wish we had a crystal ball so we could know and be prepared?  Unfortunately we don't.  However, we can still set goals and plan for some sort of future, trying our best to achieve it.

Preparation for this assignment includes:
  1. Research information about five (5) careers using the Occupational Outlook Handbook
    1. At least one of the careers MUST be a computer career (computer programmer/engineer/maintenance, network specialist/administrator, software engineer/developer, manager of information systems, electronic information specialist, etc.)
    2. Locate the education needed for the particular discipline within each field or career that you are interested in.
    3. Locate the average median or average beginning salary for these positions/fields/careers.
    4. Describe the outlook for each career in the next five years, if available, and what the growth and/or job availability will be (Average, Slower than Average, or Faster than Average).
    5. What kind of working conditions will you endure?  Long hours or is it "8-5", 50 hours a week, or what?
    6. Is there a variety of Industries or opportunities that you can work in if you specialize in any of these fields/careers?
  2. If any of the careers you have chosen requires you to receive certification or a college degree (2, 4 or more years), where do you hope to go for this education?  Pick at least one post secondary school or institute.  Provide a bit of information about this school and its reputation in training or educating people for this field.

Following are the requirements for this page:
  1. Create/write the HTML page in Notepad or HotDog Pro.
  2. On your Web page include the following:
    1. A clip art or graphic representing the careers you've chosen (follow copyright rules!)
    2. A link to the OCO (see above) pages which describes the career you've chosen
    3. A table to hold the information you discovered about the careers.  Include a border on the table, center it on the page, and shade the row or column which contains the category titles for the table.
    4. Below the table, include information about the schools you chose for your training, possibly in another table, as well as a link to their home page, including the explanation you formulated above,
    5. A Color or Image Background
  3. You are limited to one page for this project.  Use internal links or targets to move the viewer down the screen for the information, if necessary.  This means you will need link buttons at the top portion of the page that are viewable without scrolling to see them.
  4. Save the page as myfuture.htm.
  5. Print the HTML  on the classroom printer (CC105 LaserJet) and the preview of the page in the Web browser on the 4550 Color Laser.

Once the page is graded and, if necessary, corrected, we will FTP the page and the database to the Web server.
