First Quarter 2008 Update
The recognition event for Tom Housh and Gene Davis will be Wednesday night, May 14 at
5:30 PM in Friendship Hall after Wednesday night dinner. We have invited the entire Education Team, past students,
and other members of the Computer Ministry. We all are looking forward to honoring Tom and Gene for their faithful
service to the Computer Ministry and the Church.
We upgraded the computer lab in the main church this past quarter. With these improvements, I encourage the use of
Rm 316 for other Church purposes between the Education Team scheduled classes. We only ask that Meridee Jordan be
informed to reserve this room when available. The improvements included a new sound system that was installed so the
students may hear the teacher easier, new flat-panel monitors installed so the students could see the class materials
better, and work done to suspend the projector from the celing and wiring to the Church network. This completes the
improvements for Rm. 316 we had in plan that started last year.
The refurbishing team is preparing for the move into the new building at the Bob and Shirley Meneilly Center for Mission
later this year. Because of this, we will be building up the inventory of computers that our partners will need. These
partners have expanded to the programs offered at Harvesters food bank network system and Habitat for Humanity learning
center, along with the commitment to the Front Porch Alliance. We anticipate laster this year the production of refurbished
computers will slow down due to the relocation and establishing the operations in the new facility.
