10" bird (robin-sized), bright orange oriole. Fairly common in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.
This is a tropical bird that builds a stocking like woven nest that is nearly two feet long.
When it flies it is jerky and typically short.Adults - have head, rump, and their underparts that are brilliant orange. They have yellowish on their belly.
Throat, back, wings and tail are black. Their wing-bar though is white.
Voice: ik-ik-ikk that is raspy.
Where found: South Texas, Mexico and
Central America.
