Buff-Bellied Hummingbird (Amazilia yucatanensis)

Field Marks: 4 1/4".  Has a green gorget on its throat.  Emerald-Green head and upper breast.  Wings and the back are slightly darker.  It's underparts are a pale buff; tail Rufous, a long bill that is red with a black tip.

Sounds: Gives a high, squeaky noise with metallic type notes.
Where found: Southern Texas (Rio Grande Valley).  This one was photographed at Quinta Mazatlan, McAllen, Texas and was bathing itself with the mist sprayers at one of the feeding stations.

Habitat: A tiny hummingbird that inhabits streamside forests and woodland borders in Southern Texas. 

Nest: A small cup saddled in a bush or small tree.  Eggs are white.  They lay two.
