Field Marks: Chickadees are the only small birds with the combination of black cap, black bib, and white cheeks. These small tame acrobats are smaller than sparrows.
Voice: A rapid, high-pitched chick a dee dee dee or dee dee dee. The song is usually 4 syables whistle fee-bee, fee-bay.
Where found: Central United States south to the Gulf States.
Texas: Resident through east, north and central Texas. These birds were seen in San Antonio at our feeder in 2002.

Habitat: Woods, groves, towns.

Nest: In hole in tree or stump. Eggs are 6-8 and speckled.
