Plain Chachalaca (Ortalis vetula)

Field Marks:

 

22" bird that is crow-sized.  Plain olive-brown to gray-brown.  Has a chicken like bill.  There is a small red patch of skin sometimes that is visible on their throat.


Voice: Cha-cha-lac that is repeated in rhythm.


Where found: South Texas, Mexico and Central America.
