Field Marks: A beautiful bird, pale pearly gray, with an extremely long scissor-like tail. Usually the "scissors" are folded. These birds like to sit on power lines, fence wires. The sides and wing linings are salmon-pink.
Voice: A harsh keck or kew; a repeated ka-leep; also shrill, excited kingbird like bickering and stuttering.
Where found: North United States south to Strait of Magellan; also warmer parts of old world.
Texas: Migrant and summer resident in all sections except the extreme western tip.
Habitat: South East Colorado, South Nebraska south to South Texas.
Nest: A twiggy, grass-lined cup in a tree, on a bush, telegraph pole, or other structure. Eggs are spotted with 4-6 in the nest.
