White-Winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica) 11-12.5"

Field Marks: Like the Mourning Dove but heavier; tail is a rounded, tipped with broad white corner. The only dove with a large white patch on the wing.
Voice: A harsh cooing, coo-uh-cuck'-oo.
Where found: Southwest United States south to North Chile. Winters mostly in Central America.
Texas: Summers in south Texas and along the Rio Grande to El Paso. Has begun moving eastward. Now found in Sugar Land and Houston, Texas. In Central Texas within the last few years moved from San Antonio northward to New Braunfels.

Habitat: Woodlands, mesquite, citrus groves, towns.

Nest: A flimsy platform of twigs in a tree, shrub, cactus, or on the ground. They lay two white eggs.
