Yellow-Rumped Warbler (Dendroica coronata) 5 1/2"

Field Marks: A thin-billed, sparrow sized bird. Breeding males patterned in gray, black, and white, with yellow on crown and sides of breast as well as rump; with white eyebrow and throat set off prominent black cheeks. Spring females are duller and browner, but show same basic pattern. Winter birds and Immatures duller and browner still, with much less yellow on sides of breast, none in crown, and dark brown cheeks.
Voice: "Chek"
Where found: Breeds from Alaska to Newfoundland, south to the Great Lakes and New York.
Texas: Migrant throughout but scarce in extreme west Texas. Winters (Sept - May) in most sections.

Habitat: Frequents brushy thickets, hedgerows, and coastal dunes. This particular bird was in a tree located in First Colony, Sugar Land, Texas.
